Julie Anne Smith, A.K.A. Julianne Moor is an Hollywood actor and writer that has won critical acclaim for her talents. Sagittarius. The actress was born in North Carolina December 3, 1960. She is oldest among three children, and was the daughter of Peter Moore Smith who was the paratrooper. The mother of her child Anne is a psychotherapist. The Moore family has English as well as Scottish heritage. Moore had a difficult time as her family was constantly shifting due to her father's job. Moore was in the class of Frankfurt American High School in Germany as her parents moved there. Then she began to perform on stage. Her studies continued at Boston University, graduating in 1983 with an B.F.A. A thesis on Theater. Moore's career began at New York with Off-Broadway Theater after the completion of her studies. In 1985, she made her debut on stage in The Edge of Night. In 1986, she was given the dual characters of Sabrina Hughes, and Frannie Hughes in the As the World Spins. It was this role that gave her an opportunity that ultimately resulted in her successful career. The show aired up to 1988, and she won the Daytime Emmy Award for her performance. In 1990 she began her film debut with Tales from the Darkside: The Movie that she later described as a terrible low-budget film. Short Cuts (1997) and 3 Women (1993), both Robert Altman productions, were her first film. The actress received a number of nominations, and acclaim for the debut film. Moore had her debut main part as a lead actress in Safe(1995). Steven Spielberg gave Moore her first lead role in the film Safe (1995). The year 1997 was when the career of this actress reached a pivotal stage. She was tapped in the role of Jurassic Park: The Lost World. The movie was one of 1997's top-rated films. The actress received an SAG award nomination for Magnolia during 1999. The Hours, a 2002 film she costarred in with Nicole Kidman and Meryl Strreep received nominations for nine Academy Awards.
